Canada To Patagonia
Our Story
We were total bikepacking noobs - curious kids who dove head first into an adventure. Tristan who started in Banff is cycling all the way to Ushuaia, Argentina - purely pedal powered. Rylie, who joined the adventure in San Diego, California, brought stoke for learning and an outlandish idea to add a trailer of surf-boards in tow. The Hybrid expedition has taken us through Baja, along the coast of Mexico and now into Central America. We are suckers for wild camping, and appreciate authentic local cultures. It feels like a privilege to experience the highs and lows of bike travel - in pursuit of giving back to the Earth that gives us so much, we are working with Conserve.org on fundraising for land conservation.
Thank you for being here!

Meet the Team

Tristan La Haye
From Knowlton, Quebec
Heya! I'm a Canadian ski patroller, tree planter and environmental advocate. I'm pedalling away every day to interact with humans and experience the slow transitions of ecosystems. A bike is a wonderful way to travel at your own pace, opening up to the world. Sometimes it's a slow slog, and sometimes it feels like crisp endorphins. Every environment brings new challenges: cold, heat, bugs, rain. Just out here in the elements experiencing the highs and lows!

Rylie Denis
From Kamloops, British Columbia
Hello! I'm a surf instructor and tree planter from British Columbia Canada. Bike travel has given me the chance to connect deeply with local cultures and expand my mental and physical bounds. I'm on the road from San Diego, California until Nicaragua. I feel so grateful to have experienced the dream of surf-packing through it's challenges and serendipities.

Conservation
We've partnered with Conserve.org to help protect critical ecosystems.
Help us protect a lush rainforest in Ecuador, one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet! Tristan will bike there to show you all the importance of this land.

A pale reef beneath me, I’m floating on a bright red board as the sun sinks into choppy waters. Just a few hours ago I cycled into the small bay where I would spend a week at a surf camp. The camp, run by a gaggle of South African surf nerds and Indonesian locals, was an instantly inviting environment....
Our experience pedalling the first stretch of mainland Mexico was like cutting into a questionably ripe fruit to find it sweet, juicy, and just a bit messy.
