About Us

We met in San Diego and rode down Baja, mostly following the Baja Divide

Phase 3

After ferrying across to mainland Mexico, we'll pick up the bike trailer for surfboards and slowly pick our way down the Pacific coast of Central America

Phase 4

Leaving the surfboards and trailer in Panama, we'll continue biking to Ecuador, where we are fundraising for land protection.

Phase 5

After connecting with the Ecuadorian jungle and people, we'll continue biking to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

Meet the Team

Rylie Denis

From Kamloops, British Columbia

I grew up deep in the ski-bike culture of BC, but always felt drawn to surfing. I spent time learning my way around the waves in Australia and Instructed in Tofino. More recently I have earned a diploma in Adventure guiding, and reconnected with my passions for art and languages.

I've always wanted to embark on a journey worth writing about, one that requires connection with the land and the people who steward it.

Heya! I'm a Canadian ski patroller, tree planter and environmental advocate. With an Adventure Guiding diploma and a deep love for movement and exploration, I’m driven to embark on a journey that challenges and enhances my connection with the world around me.

We want to use our outreach to protect land, giving back to the earth that gives us so much. Learn more about our conservation efforts below!

A pale reef beneath me, I’m floating on a bright red board as the sun sinks into choppy waters. Just a few hours ago I cycled into the small bay where I would spend a week at a surf camp. The camp, run by a gaggle of South African surf nerds and Indonesian locals, was an instantly inviting environment....

GUIDED BY A BEACON OF KINDNESS

Before crawling into the tent to meet sleep with ease, I often stand quietly in all my layers, my head tilted back, staring softly at the sky. I’m not really focused on the stars nor the moon, more so gazing inward, processing the world that bikepacking has opened up to me....

a day in the life-

Peeing in bushes, pushing pedals on pavement, hill after hill. All to arrive at another wild place to spend the night, meeting people we would otherwise have never connected with.

From getting turned away from our first camp option (a private beach), we reluctantly retraced our steps to find an even better beach. We were welcomed by a wonderful family with fresh caught oysters, fish and empanadas. 🐟❤️

Baja complete!
Onto mainland Mexico for these two beans,
We’ll mainly be following the Pacific coast from here, through Central America until Panama, keeping our eyes out for waves👀

There are many vultures here in Mexico, making the most of plentiful roadkill, garbage, and what the waves wash onto the beach.

We are slowly becoming birders…

Ohhh Baja
What a special place.
The dirt roads are hard, for sure
Days of slogging in sand, river rocks and washboard.
But it’s easy to forget when we show up to places like this to spend the night
Not every day is this glamorous
But the gamble is kind of fun

This tent is our home. It holds us in wide open spaces, cliffs, and corners. It’s our portable nook.

Ultralight and ultrapackable.

The thing we love most about this home is how easy it is to set up. When you have to take down and repitch every day, it makes a difference.

People ask how we can afford this adventure. The answer is long winded. But to put it simply:

-these camping spots are free
-beans are cheaper than gas
-and we are lucky to have supporters like @hyperlite_mountain_gear 🐚

Before I had fully woken up, still in sleepy layers, with puffy eyes, the hum of the fishing motor was backdropping broken conversation as we got to know the fisherman. Rods were cast, smiles illuminated and fish came flying overhead, heavy on the lines, plentiful in the waters below.

After thousands of rough miles, our bikes are pretty banged up 🥴
I was grateful to pass by these welders who helped bombproof my bottle cage!

Last week we rolled through the oasis of San Ignacio. After sprawling dry desert, the lush palms and fresh water were a blessing. We scrubbed off the road dust and rested for a day, writing and lounging.

Every time we rest we’re reminded of how much we need it. We are currently two puddles in human form, regaining strength in the cute town of Mulegé. People have been so kind to us, going out of their way to make us feel welcome and share food,
(and being so patient while we slowly build our Spanish vocabulary)
